CHICAGO — The women's basketball world is mourning the death of one of the original members of the Chicago Sky who had a decorated career on the national and international stage.Nikki McCray-Penson, who was a professional All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist as a player and won a coach of the year honor as well, died at the age of 51 on Friday, according to the WNBA. In her ninth and final year in the WNBA, she joined the expansion Chicago Sky as one of their original players. She was in the starting lineup for the team's inaugural game against the Charlotte Sting at then Charlotte Bobcats Arena on May 20, 2006. During that contest, McCray-Penson had nine points with a rebound and a steal in 11 minutes in an 83-82 victory. She would play in 11 games for the Sky that season in a more limited role, averaging two points in 7.5 minutes per game. In late June, she made the decision to retire from basketball, doing so halfway through the Sky's first season. LORAIN, Ohio (WJW) - An Ohio family is heartbroken and furious over the death of their dog, and now they're determined to get justice.Mellenie Kerns, the owner of a 3-year-old Labrador/golden retriever mix named Dixie, broke down in tears while watching body-camera footage from an officer with the Lorain Police Department, who shot and killed the dog on July 2. “It brought up the memories of watching it and the fear I had,” Kerns said. “It’s my baby. She didn’t deserve it. A new study suggests that depression after traumatic brain injury may not be the same as depression related to other causes, according to researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital.The study of 273 people found that brain circuits associated with depression were different between people with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and those without TBI.“Our findings help explain how the physical trauma to specific brain circuits can lead to development of depression,” said study leader Shan Siddiqi, of the Brigham’s Department of Psychiatry and Center for Brain Circuit Therapeutics.“If we’re right, it means that we should be treating depression after TBI like a distinct disease,” Siddiqi added. “Many clinicians have suspected that this is a clinically distinct disorder with a unique pattern of symptoms and unique treatment response, including poor response to conventional antidepressants — but until now, we didn’t have clear physiological evidence to prove this.”The study included 273 adult...Loaded handgun recovered following road rage event

Mccullen, 32, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the second degree, Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, Menacing in the second degree and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. GALLATIN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- One person has died after a UTV crash in Columbia County. New York State Police named Marlene VonHagen, 61, of Pleasantville, as the person who was killed. ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. - One man died, and six others are hurt after a highway crash Thursday afternoon in St. Francois County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that Wyatt Vangundy, 26, of French Village, Missouri, died in the crash. Next of kin has been notified. The crash happened just after the noon hour Thursday on Route Y, just west of Critter Lane Road. What is causing the mysterious St. Louis County hum? Investigators say Vangundy was driving alone and heading eastbound on Route Y. Another car with six people was traveling westbound on the highway. MSHP says Vangundy failed to negotiate a left turn, went into the westbound lane and struck the car head-on. Both cars travelled off the roadway after the collision.
